My approach offers no top-down mandates nor quick-fix solutions—only sustainable ones. It’s about genuinely listening to the people impacted by an organization’s decisions, policies, leadership, and culture. When you understand what’s at stake, you make stronger, more sustainable decisions that keep your mission moving forward in a healthy, steady direction.

From 2014 to 2017, some of my most impactful leadership development work happened quietly—behind the scenes, one conversation at a time—until the results spoke for themselves. I helped a minority group gain inclusion in clinical research trials for the first time in history, simply by asking the right questions. I reached out to researchers, one by one, and asked why this group wasn’t included. Then I showed them the federal law on minority inclusion, asked what the believed should exempt their work from it, and ultimately ended up helping many of them figure out how to change their regular research processes, influence their departments, and push leadership across their organizations to meet a higher scientific, ethical, and legal standard they could all feel proud of having achieved.

This same one-on-one, systems-aware approach led to my working with HVTN and HPTN in rolling out the first-ever inclusion of specific transgender populations in federally funded international clinical efficacy trials in 2016. That multi-year effort involved direct, ongoing support to organizational decision-makers as a subject matter expert, advisor, and consultant—ensuring they not only made the right changes but understood how to embed them into their leadership structures for lasting impact.

I’ve also been an Executive Director of two non-profit organizations. I know how it feels to wear those shoes, and I fully balance that reality with the idealistic and sometimes impossible suggestions leaders are often asked to achieve.
